“You named your stake?”
Rich reds and purples saturate this journal featuring a hand inked “B” in the classic Buffy the Vampire Slayer font. A hand carved miniature wooden replica of Buffy’s favorite stake, Mr. Pointy, serves as a closure. I tried to be meticulous about duplicating the look, shape and color of this iconic stake. Mr. Pointy was the stake given to Buffy by her fellow slayer, the late Kendra, at the end of season 2 and then used throughout the rest of the tv series.
This book is bound using 6 needle variation on the Greek across-the-spine coptic method. This means every stitch is redundant a few times over; should a couple stitches break, the book will still maintain complete integrity. It is sewn with two contrasting colors of premium waxed Irish linen thread.
One of the major advantages to the exposed spine binding method, in addition to the lovely decorative detail on the spine, is that the book lies open flat and stay open at every page. This makes it ideal for writing, drawing and sketching.
The bookblock is composed of ten quaternion sections; a total of 80 pages of 32lb white 25% cotton rag with 30% post-consumer recycled content. The decorative papers used are all from renewable resources: Thai banana paper, Nepalese lokta (from the Daphne bush) and Japanese oguru lace (Kozo bush fibers.) The finished journal measures 5.75″ x 7.75″.
